![]() She already had enough knowledge to run the record label, which was just as well as she had to face numerous problems. Tomica was named the CEO of Ruthless Records in 1995, after her husband Eric Lynn Wright passed away. ![]() Her venture with Tabu Records and Motown helped her gain experience and improve her skills, which led to her becoming an entrepreneur she founded her own business, and thinks of Clarence Avant as her mentor. She and Clarence became very close, and when he moved to Motown Records, he took Tomica with him. The company was founded by Clarence Avant, who is known throughout the US as ‘The Godfather of Black Music’. Tomica launched her career by working for several premier production houses, however, she didn’t gain any recognition until she started working for Tabu Records as their secretary. Tomica grew up listening to rap music and watching movies, and she made it her life’s goal at a very early age to become a film producer. Tomica attended San Fernando Valley high school, and after matriculation enrolled at Santa Monica College where she stayed for two years before switching to West Los Angeles College in Baldwin Hills – she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1992.
